mindfulness

Picture
Mindfulness is a practice of attention, focus, and clarity. We intentionally bring attention to the present moment, to our direct experience. It's also a practice of gentleness, love, and openness. We cultivate the ability to be kind to ourselves as we try to be attentive. We practice not judging the experience we're having, other people, the weather, all of it.

The truth of mindfulness is that it is a practice of resolving duality. Instead of trying to be focused or trying to be kind, we learn how to integrate both, finding the experience of showing up in this moment just as it is, with loving awareness.

If you've tried to meditate but 'couldn't do it,' you may need to cultivate the important practice of curiosity. And if you want to meditate but can't make yourself sit down to do it, you may need to cultivate the discipline that gets you into your seat!

Check out resources here, and consider joining a class to practice mindfulness with a small group (currently on zoom) for support.
